Point of clarification: there is actually a good way to search for images, though it’s not terribly well-known. It works even if watermarks have been removed. Allow me to demonstrate.

Step 1: Save this chainsawsuit to my desktop.

Step 2: Edit it to crop out the watermark. Now I’ve got this image: 

Step 3: Go to Google Images and drag that image RIGHT FROM MY DESKTOP INTO THE SEARCH BAR. WHOA.

Result: It brings up the original chainsawsuit comic page with no problem at all. Zam clam!!! Now I know who to give credit if I’m not a lazy, disingenuous chump!

What does this mean? It means if you run a tumblr consisting entirely of reblogged, uncredited images, then fuck you. If you don’t know where the picture is from (hint: the answer is almost never “this other tumblr”), drag it into the Googles and become informed. Every time you fail to take that tiny, simple step, you are making the world a little worse.
